Trauma
Trauma can be characterized as an extremely distressing situation that causes a person(s) to feel intense feelings of horror or a sense of helplessness. Trauma can affect someone psychologically, emotionally, and physically. These traumatic events can be experienced first hand or witnessed. Examples of traumatic events can be the following: sexual abuse, physical abuse, military combat, witnessing violence, neglect, and verbal abuse just to name a few.

Research has shown that cognitive-behavioral and behavioral therapy is quite effective in reducing symptoms related to trauma. Elana believes in using these techniques, which have shown to be affective. Elana has in-depth experience assisting clients with reducing their anxiety in order to regain empowerment and security in their lives. Note: It is very important to contact your medical physician if you have been sexually abused in the last 72 hours.
